Emperado, the founder and head of the Kajukenbo system, as been heralded as a Martial Arts genius, a man with a killer instinct, and ultimately the most feared man in Hawaii. Sijo Emperado was one of five men who formed the Black Belt Society. Walter Choo a welterweight boxing champion and Tang Soo Do practitioner; Frank Ordenez, a Judo and Jujitsu master; Joe Holke, a Kudokan Judoka practitoner; Clarence Chang, a Northern and Southern sil-lim Kung Fu stylist; and lastly the most famous member, Adriano Emperado. By trial and error, the system of Kajukenbo would gradually be developed. The name Kajukenbo stood for various parts that comprise the Black Belt Society. “K A” stood for Karate, “JU” for Judo, “KEN” for Kenpo, and “BO” for Chinese Boxing. These arts together make up one of the toughest forms of self-defense to date.
