Wide Kneel Stance – From a Neutral Stance drop the body weight downward (Gravitational Marriage) while bending the rear leg. Next, rise upward on the ball of the rear foot; this will allow you to drop lower. The forward foot is at a 45° angle to the opponent and makes no other changes. Your weight distribution is 50-50. This stance is used to drop low to aid in avoiding attack, at the same time still remaining straight, positioning for attack to lower points. Since the body drops downward Gravitational Marriage can be employed with the strike. Also with an opponent on the ground, another application of the Wide Kneel Stance is that it can be used for Checking and Pinning.
